Promotion Announcement - Dan Mays - Home Depot - Monroe

It's with great pleasure to announce the promotion of Daniel Mays as Logistics Coordinator for our Home Depot Monroe OH account. Dan will assume the responsibilities from Lena Howard, as she moves on to her new role as Account Manager for Southern States. 

Dan joined the J.B. Hunt family in June of 2015 after graduating from Marquette University with a degree in Supply Chain Management. Dan quickly made an impression by taking over the Operations Supervisor role in Van Buren. Dan played an integral part of the account winning the 2015 Central Region - Large Account of the Year. During this time, we asked Dan to take over the new 180 Day Experience. As the 180 Day Experience manager, we have seen a dramatic improvement in driver on-boarding, driver retention, new hire safety, and Driver Dedicated Culture. 

Dan and fiance Edie are excited to move to Monroe and experience the big city life! 

Congratulations Dan on your well deserved promotion! You will be missed greatly in Van Buren! 

Promotion Announcement - Molly Lawson - Home Depot - Monroe

The Monroe Home Depot team is proud to welcome Molly Lawson as an Operations Supervisor as she has just accepted a promotion from DMIT for the Tully region. 

Molly is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Operations. She was born and raised in Liberty Township, OH. She enjoys boxing, working out, anything outdoors & spending time with family and friends. She volunteers at her local animal shelter, and thinks dogs are superior to cats. Molly is a huge movie buff and enjoys puns. She can be found testing her material in the Monroe office on a daily basis.

Jonathan Brady (DMIT) recently rode with Don Neace.  Here is what he learned about Don:
Don is one of the more veteran drivers here at the Toyota Owensboro account. He has been with J.B. Hunt for almost 27 years and has driven over 3.4 million safe miles.

He is very proud of his safe miles accomplishment and has the goal to break 4 million. Don has lived in Oldtown, Kentucky his entire life, and is the place where he first began his career as a professional driver. After briefly working in tobacco farming with his family, Don began driving by way of school bus, then 10 wheelers, and from then on, with J.B. Hunt.

In his free time, Don and his fiancée enjoy getting out and attending festivals throughout the state. He also manages to find time to watch his favorite basketball team, the University of Kentucky Wildcats

Promotion Announcement - Jonathan Brady - Operations Supervisor - Toyota Owensboro

Please join me in congratulating Jonathan Brady on his promotion to Operations Supervisor for Toyota Owensboro in Louisville, KY!  

Jonathan joined J.B. Hunt as a DMIT in the Louisville office this past December.

Prior to that, he spent a little over a year working in the metals refining industry in which he lived in Virginia and Georgia. Jonathan is a proud alumni of the University of Kentucky where he majored in both management and marketing. In his spare time, he enjoys watching/ traveling to various sporting events, golfing, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

Happy Anniversary to Kim Huff!  Tomorrow is Kim's 4 year anniversary with JB Hunt!  Kim is our Account Manager on the Ohio Valley Aluminum Account in Shelbyville, KY.  Kim has done a fantastic job on this fleet.  We have seen consistent growth at this customer as well as improved safety, turnover, and financial results under Kim's watch.  We appreciate all your hard work Kim!

The Deblock Cup Is On The Move

On 3/24/16 the cup visited the CHEP Solon, OH account.  The CHEP Solon account has been around since March 2003.  This 5 driver / 5 truck account is run by Account Manager Adam Spannbauer.

CHEP itself was established in Australia back in 1945.  They have since grown to be the world's largest provider of equipment pooling with over 200 million pallets, 14 million containers and 170 reusable plastic containers sold annually.  Their yearly sales total over $4.8 Billion.

The DeBlock Cup Is On The Move Again!

On 3/22/16 the cup visited the CHEP Indianapolis, IN account.  The CHEP Indy account has been around since May 2002.  It is one of the longest standing accounts in the DCS Central Region.  This 15 driver / 13 truck account is run by Account Manager Jerry White and Operations Supervisor Scott Dorsey.

The Cup Visits Ellwood City Forge

This week, the Central Region Cup made its way to Western PA to visit the Ellwood City Forge Account.  ECF has been in the steel forging business for over 100 years.  ECF currently employs over 400 people and serves customers from many industries around the world.

ECF has been a customer of JB Hunt since 2007.  Here, our team manages all of the outbound transportation needs for this customer.  Dana Crosby and Terry Knight run not only our Dedicated Fleet of 9 drivers, but also handles all of the outbound one-way moves utilizing several different one way carriers.

ECF shares many of the same values JB Hunt does which makes them a fantastic partner.  Much like JB Hunt's philosophy, Safety comes first to ECF as well.  There is a tremendous amount of risk forging and then transporting steel.  Both companies work together to maintain that solid safety culture at all times!

Naomi Eaton (Account Manager) rode with John Johnson yesterday.  Here is what she learned about John:

He and his wife live in Louisville, KY; however, he is from Cincinnati, OH. John enjoys visiting museums and visits the Crown Conservatory and the Museum Center at Union Terminal with his wife whenever he has a chance to get back home. John is also the proud father to five daughters.

Driving a truck is a second career for John. After he left the military, where he was a paratrooper with the 82^nd airborne, he worked for 30 years for Wang Laboratories as an installation specialist. John is also a fan of Science Fiction and is currently enjoying the revival of the X-Files series.

John loves driving for DCS and is proud to be hauling frames for Toyota.

Happy Anniversary to Jason Craig!  Two years ago Jason began his career with J.B. Hunt as a Manager Trainee in Indianapolis. Jason is a graduate of Purdue University and served for 14 years in the US Army National Guard. Shortly into his time at JB Hunt, Jason was promoted to Account Manager at JMC in Richmond, IN. He recently took on a new role of Account Manager for the Weaver Popcorn account starting up in Whitestown, IN. Congrats, Jason!

Karl is a graduate of Western Kentucky University who began his career as a Manager Trainee primarily supporting the Southern States network.  Karl currently resides in North Carolina as Account Manager for the Southern States Barber team. Getting to Know - Michael Whissen - Professional Driver Home Depot Monroe

Jeremy Stout (General Manager - Transportation) rode with Michael Whissen on March 14.  Here is what he learned about Mike:

Jeremy Stout (TGM) and Michael Whissen (WHIM28) Professional Driver Home Depot 

Mike has a wife and 3 kids (ages 11-5). The oldest, his only daughter, is quickly approaching the teen years both in age and attitude (ha).

Mike met his wife in AZ when he was stationed there in the Marine Corp. He was in that branch of the military for 13 years before going into driving as a civilian. He got his start driving for an oil rig company near Laredo, TX, but moved back home when the work dried up. He then drove for Schneider OTR and actually hauled loads for the Home Depot out of the RDC in Monroe.

He wanted more home-time and switched to the good guys by joining JB Hunt Dedicated late in 2015. Mike doesn’t necessarily dislike driving, but really doesn’t like when others act crazy behind the wheel when sharing the road with them. 

Promotion Announcement - Sherry Sapp - Southern States - Louisville, Ky

Please join me in congratulating Sherry Sapp on her promotion to Account Manager for Southern States in Louisville, KY! Sherry will be responsible for managing this Retail DC location which consists of 15 drivers and be responsible for the development of a DMIT that will be stationed at this location.

Sherry started with J.B. Hunt in 1989 in Louisville, KY with Truck Division. She then moved to Lowell, Arkansas in 2001 with the start up of Central Dispatch.  Sherry returned home to Louisville,KY in 2009 with DCS and spent time as the Operations Supervisor at Wausau Paper and most recently for Toyota.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.  She is very proud of her son Matthew who will attend college in the fall.

Account Manager Spotlight - Leigha Rutan





The Quaker Account in Indianapolis, IN is one of the more challenging accounts in the region.  Here we run 11 local drivers who slip seat 6 trucks and service the local market delivering something we all love, Gatorade!  With Gatorade, comes seasonality.  Obviously there is more Gatorade consumed when it's warm.  This requires our Account Manager Leigha Rutan to peform magic each and every day for this important customer.

 

Leigha has been with JB Hunt for just under 5 years.  Leigha began her career as an Administrative Assistant at the Quaker Account while continuing her education.  From there Leigha was promoted to an Operations Supervisor and recently an Account Manager.  Leigha is a very hard working and dedicated employee, consistently logging in while at home at nights and on the weekends to make sure our drivers and our customers are taken care of. 

 

We always get positive feedback from both our drivers and our customers on how great of a job Leigha does servicing the account.  Thank you Leigha for all of your hard work and dedication!

Sherry Sapp (Operations Supervisor) Toyota Owensboro rode with Alex Ledershnayder yesterday. Here is what she learned about Alex:

Alex started with the Toyota account out of Owensboro KY in 2010.

Alex was born and raised in the Soviet Union and left there in 1989.  Alex arrived in the United States in 1990 and lived in Brooklyn NY until 1994.

Alex relocated to Louisville, Kentucky and has been there for the last 21 years.  Alex was in the military; he drove a cab in New York City and went to truck driving school.

Alex has been married to his wife Polina for 38 years.  Alex enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandsons.  In Alex’s spare time he likes to be outdoors, camping and fishing with his family. 

Home Depot - Monroe - Spring Surge

On Saturday morning, the Home Depot - Monroe team held a Spring Surge meeting with just over 40 of their drivers. The team covered many areas from recapping 2015 to Safety to Service expectations. While the information was very informative and the drivers loved the Bob Evans catered breakfast but best part of the show were the awards. 

 

Not only did the account recognize their DOM's throughout 2015 but also gave Driver of the Year awards for their Local, Regional, and Yard/Support drivers. Overall, the meeting was very effective and gives the account a great start to Spring Surge 2016 which promptly began the following Monday!

Getting to Know - Dereck Stuart - Professional Driver - Family Dollar Morehead

Ashley Haney (Operations Supervisor) had the privilege to accompany Dereck on a run this week.

 Dereck has been with J.B. Hunt 11 months now and has proven how dedicated he is to his job many times over. He is a pleasure to work with because of his pleasant and positive attitude. Dereck always takes the initiative to be proactive and make sure his daily performance exceeds expectations. He has great work ethic and always puts forth 100%.

            Prior to J.B. Hunt and moving to the U.S., Dereck was a Captain for a Tour Company that operates out of the Bahamas’. He is originally from Freeport, Bahamas and moved to the U.S. in 2011. He loves being a father and spending as much time as he can with his son. When Dereck is able to find spare time he enjoys playing basketball and tennis. 

Intigral Blitz

 Thursday we did a blitz at Intigral in Walton Hills, OH. 

We set up a DOT inspection lane with ARM Rich Schwartz, AMM John Dodson, AM Sam Marcotte, and Quickway Truck Service.

We inspected permit books as well as all the equipment on the yard. 

Sam Marcotte manned the grill and made burgers and dogs for his drivers. Overall it was a success and we had a great turnout. Great Job by the Intigral Team.

CHEP - Twinsburg, OH BLITZ
