Getting to Know - Mark Miles

This past week, Account Manager Elyse Vautrin completed a ride along with Mark Miles from the PrimeSource Account in Rochester, NY.  Mark has been with JB Hunt since February 2017 where he started his career with the PPG Global Account.  Though it was a brisk day in Rochester, it was great spending time with Mark and learning more about him and his family.

Below is the write-up from Elyse:
It was a true pleasure riding along with Mark. His dedication and genuine concern for the account, customers, and other drivers shines through in all he does. Mark was more than willing to show me how to properly strap a load on a curtain-side trailer and was eager to assist when I had difficulty. He took his time to ensure I fully understood the mechanics of each decision that was made when strapping and how best to strap difficult sized product as to not destroy it. From the moment I met Mark I could see his concern for doing the job properly and his concern to ensure he was being as safe as possible. Mark truly cares about his position and strives to ensure he is doing the best possible job each and every day. Mark has assisted the Prime Source account with training in the past and expressed interest in doing so in the future. Mark has been seen going out of his way to assist other drivers in the yard with strapping their loads and is willing to lend a hand with any tools he may have to ensure all drivers are able to leave out on their run for the day. Mark came from PPG as a regional driver switching to a local flatbed account to spend more time at home with his wife and son. Mark enjoys the physicality of the job and views it as he is being “paid to go to work out”. Mark has had some recent frustrations with the account especially when it comes to maintenance of equipment and is excited to see what the future will bring. Mark enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and going to eat at Texas Roadhouse. Mark is an asset to the Prime Source and the J.B. Hunt team!

Central Region Driver of the Month for February - David McConnell

Congratulations to David McConnell for being selected Central Region Driver of the Month for February.  David has been with JB Hunt since 1995 and currently serves on the Home Depot Account in Van Buren, OH.  Dave is a valuable member of the team and has served a variety of roles within the company since being hired in over 20 years ago!  Dave was selected due to his work ethic, dedication, and commitment to operate safely!  Congratulations Dave!

Below is the write-up from the Home Depot team:

David McConnell can be seen as the ideal driver for any account. He has been with JB Hunt since 10/03/1995 and has been with the Home Depot Van Buren since 10/03/2011! He demonstrates his experience on a daily basis by frequently diagnosing and solving problems without needing any assistance. This includes starting up on Sundays from New York to meet appointments, diagnosing mechanical issues with the truck and trailer to reduce downtime, working around some of the multiple issues drivers may experience at stores, and exceptional pre-trip planning which allows him to beat nearly every ETA. He does this all while maintaining a very safe mentality in and out of the truck. There are a lot of good drivers who exhibit this behavior, but what sets Dave apart from the others is the level of consistency he displays on a daily basis. Dave is also a pleasure in the office, usually quiet and laid back. Instead of actually complaining he likes to joke about complaining. We used to call Dave a Champion before we started the “Drive like a Champion” slogan, but he will forever be the original Champion.

Welcome Skyler Doss!

Please welcome Skyler Doss to the Central Region.  Skyler is originally from Westfield, IN, and attended Purdue University.  He originally declared for Aerospace Engineering but quickly realized it wasn’t for him.  He then joined Purdue’s Krannert School of Management where he learned the basics of being a leader.  Skyler’s goal with JB Hunt is to build on his education and become a great leader with the industry’s leading dedicated division.  Skyler interned for the Midwest Region’s Home Depot Account in Joliet, IL during the summer of 2016.  Skyler decided to return to JB Hunt and we are glad he did.  His impact has been positive since day one.  During his free time, Skyler visits his girlfriend in southern Indiana, attends concerts of any genre, and cheers for his local teams at their respective venues. Welcome to the team Skyler, we’re ecstatic to have you!

Getting to Know - Jean Paul Rukebesha

This past week, Dillon White of The Home Depot Account in Monroe, OH had the privilege of riding with Jean Paul Rukebesha.  Jean Paul is a regional driver who has been with the company since April of 2015.  Jean Paul lives in Dayton, and does a fantastic job servicing our customer!  It was a great day, and allowed both individuals to learn more about each other and continue to build a relationship.

Below are some additional facts about Jean Paul:

Jean Paul is one of the best drivers on our account and recently won our regional driver of the year award. On our ride along I learned he moved here 5 years ago from Rwanda with his wife and at the time 3 kids. He now has 4 children ages 21, 18, 9 and 3. We talked about the differences between his home country and the United States. I was very impressed to find out that he and his wife were both lawyers in Rwanda but the documents don’t transfer in the U.S. He said that his wife is currently back in school to be nurse and his oldest daughter is going to Wright State University.
