Family Dollar Ashley is Committed to Safety!

Recently, our Management Team in Ashley IN put up a Commitment to Safety Banner in the office.  All of our Drivers and Managers have signed this banner pledging their commitment to put Safety First in everything they do.  Family Dollar is one of the most difficult unloads we do as a region.  Our drivers deliver 53' trailers of Family Dollar goods and hand unload them via a roller system into the retail stores.  This is a physically demanding job.  In addition, they are required to back into some very difficult delivery areas in order to get the product off.  Drivers that can handle this customer and delivery are some of the best in the business.  Great work by the local Ashley Team keeping our drivers focused on our #1 priority Safety!

No Messing Around!

On 3/7/14, Marco's Pizza miss shipped 2 stores in the Dayton, OH area. As a result, our delivery driver delivered the wrong freight to the 2 stores involved. Throughout the day, we were unable to obtain a driver to head to the area and fix the mistake. As a result, Jeremy Messing (Tabor Region - DMIT) stepped up! Jeremy took his personal vehicle to the stores and fixed the issue himself helping shift around several items for the two stores.

We appreciate Jeremy stepping up and taking care of business!

Team Monroe vs Team Van Buren Rack and Stack Challenge

Rack and Stack Challenge

Team Monroe

vs

Team Van Buren

Over the next 4 weeks, our two Home Depot Sites will be going head to head in our Rack and Stack Challenge.  The Rack and Stack Challenge consists of 4 key metrics that we are judged on by The Home Depot.  These metrics include 7am ETA, 1 hr ETA, SOTC, and On-Time Service.  At the end of the 4 week period, we will pull the cumulative score and announce a winner.  The winning team will win not only bragging rights but a Steak Dinner for the Management Team.

Who will win the challenge??  Stout looks awfully confident in this picture!!!
On-Time Service
The On-Time Service goal that Home Depot expects us to achieve on a regular basis is 98.5%. That is for all drivers including support drivers.  This doesn’t leave much room for error.  All drivers are required to call in if you are experiencing delay at a store getting unloaded or at a vendor getting loaded.  Our managers can attempt to get the loading or unloading process sped up so you can make your next appointment time.
SOTC
What is SOTC? SOTC stands for SSM On-Time Compliance. Every call(Appt at Shipper, Arrival at Shipper, Loaded, Appt at Receiver, Arrival at Receiver, and Unloaded Calls) are SSMs.  We send a minimum of 6 SSMs for every load.  SOTC is Home Depot tracking if we are submitting the SSMs, or call times, within 2 hours of the actual time the activity occurred.  So if you arrive at the shipper at 1300, we are expected to have that call time sent to Home Depot’s system by 1500.  If we don’t get it to them by within 2 hours, we are considered non-compliant for the entire load(all 6 SSMs).
ETA
The Home Depot requires us to maintain accurate ETAs. We are measured on the Appointment Time that we have set in our system or in TMS.  You can now enter a 2 hour range, and our system will transmit the midpoint. So if your time in HOST/Freight Manager is set from 2000 – 2200, the ETA will be 2100. ETA is measured on if we arrive within 60 minutes of the appointment time that is scheduled. So if the appt is 2100, you have until 2200 to arrive. Be cautious with the new range to ensure that it is inside of the FRED window, so you do not show up early and receive an on-time failure.
*ETA REQUIREMENTS*
Metric 1: (new logic) Rack & Stack 10%
*ETA must be submitted by 7am on Day of Delivery – if not, the value provided by TMS on tender is used
*7am metric is in whichever time zone the store is in
*Actual arrival is +/- 60min of ETA submitted by 7am (or TMS tender time)
*Load tendered on the previous day that is delivering between 2a-7a on the NEXT day is EXCLUDED (Tendered on Monday for a 2a-7a Tuesday delivery would be excluded)
*Loads tendered and delivered on same day are EXCLUDED
*Load tendered on Friday for a 2300-0200(Tuesday) delivery would be INCLUDED and the ETA must be submitted by 7a Monday.
Metric 2: (new logic) Rack & Stack 5% - This logic will apply to ALL loads
*If a carrier needs to send an update/change to a previously submitted ETA, it MUST be sent up to 1hr prior to ETA submitted originally(7am ETA)
*The ETA can’t be sent after the actual arrival
*Actual arrival is +/- 60min of ETA submitted
Note: No update/change is needed if the 7am or tendered ETA is still accurate
