Congratulations McCarthy Family!

Congratulations to the McCarthy Family on the birth of their son, Perrin Jerome.  Perrin was born on March 26 and came in weighing 8lbs 4oz and was 21 inches!  Mom and baby are doing great.  Congratulations!

 

Roundtable at Amazon in Columbus OH

 

This past week, our Amazon Team was fortunate to be involved in a roundtable at the Columbus Terminal.  In the past 6 months, this account has hired over 250 drivers.  Recently, the team moved operations from the Dublin Office to the Columbus Terminal in order to be closer to our driving team, to drive those one on one interaction.  It has been very positive, allowing us to meet the team face to face.  We have been doing multiple roundtables per week, and plan on continuing to do so over the next few months.  Great work team Amazon!

 

 

Toyota Louisville Board Brawl

Each month the Toyota Louisville managers compete for the right to earn the illustrious “Board Brawl” belt!

The competition pits the three operations supervisors against each other to see which of their 16-driver boards can earn the most points throughout the month. Points are earned from a variety of categories including average MPG, total team inspections completed, lowest log points, backhaul fill percentages, and overall RTD.

The friendly competition has led to great success for the growth of the management team, giving everyone a better vision of how their teams performance impacts the account as a whole each week. We are five months in and each manager has officially earned at least one months reign as board brawl champion. The drivers love to come in the office and see if their manager earned the right to hold the belt on their desk!

We hope this competition continues to fuel account success along with growth of our team as both a learning and competitive tool!

 



 

Promotion Announcement - Sergey Struck



Congratulations to Sergey Struck on his promotion from DMIT to Operations Supervisor for Armour-Eckrich in Indianapolis IN!  In Sergey’s new role he will help oversee 18 Professional Drivers and roughly a $4.8 million book of business based on annual revenue. 

 

Sergey started his career with J.B. Hunt in September of 2018.  Before joining DCS he spent 5 years with Enterprise Holdings working his way up to a branch manager.  In his free time, he enjoys playing competitive basketball, shooting firearms and anything to do with electronics.

Promotion Announcement - Zach Mattingly

 

Please join us in congratulating Zach Mattingly on his promotion to General Manager – Transportation of the Toyota Accounts.

 

Zach is a proud graduate of Western Kentucky University. After graduating in 2012 with his Bachelor's degree, he enrolled in the MBA program at WKU the very next year, earning his Master’s in Business Administration/Management in 2013. Shortly after, he began his career with JB Hunt as a DMIT in Louisville, KY. In January of 2014 he was promoted into the Logistics Coordinator role for Team Toyota, earning Central Region Logistics Coordinator of the Year in 2015. After 2 years of exceptional performance he was promoted to Account Manager of the Toyota Louisville Account in 2016. During his tenure, Zach has played a huge role in the team’s success and growth.

Central Region Driver of the Month for February - Lorri Busler

Congratulations to Lorri Busler for being selected Driver of the Month for February for the Central Region!  Lorri is a local driver assigned to the Intigral Account in Walton Hills, OH.  While Lorri has been with the company just under a year, she has done an outstanding job in serving Intigral in a safe and professional manner.  Lorri was selected out of over 1400 drivers in the region.  Congratulations Lorri!

Below are some additional details on Lorri:

Lorri is Intigral’s Driver of the Month! Lorri has been with the Account since April 2018. She always has a great attitude no matter how tough the day is. She has been extremely dependable and has been one of the “go-to” Drivers. I’ve received calls from Intigral employees saying how great it is to have Lorri deliver at their location because she always asks what they need to make things easier and better. She is a team player, she has no issues stepping up to the plate and covering for Regional routes when Intigral is in a pinch. A few weeks ago I asked Lorri if she would be ok taking a two-day trip to Kentucky to pick up a trailer that we desperately needed, this cut into her weekend and she simply said “absolutely”. I can always rely on her when the Customer needs a Driver to stay longer days. She is very quick to jump on loads for other accounts that need help. She really brightens up the fleet and is very deserving to be recognized as Driver of the Month.

Lorri has remained a very safe Driver throughout the month with zero critical events, collisions, injuries, or complaints.

Adopt a Class - Sarver PA

Riverbend Foods’ driver Bill Morio nominated his son’s class at Buffalo Elementary School in Sarver, PA for the Adopt-A-Class program and was one of the lucky winners! On Friday February 22, 2019 Bill Morio and Account Manager Raymond Colio loaded up the materials and delivered them to Buffalo Elementary School. JB hunt staff was greeted by the class with anxious smiles and thank you cards that the students personally wrote. The entire class took part in opening the boxes filled with the materials that they all chose together. Following the delivery of the materials, the entire class got to hop into Bill’s day cab and see what a truck looked like from the inside. The day was ended with a pizza party for the class and big smiles from the students. The kids, along with JB Hunt staff had a blast interacting amongst one another and the school was very appreciative for the materials that will be used in the classroom for many years to come. A special thank you to Bill Morio who took the time to nominate his son’s school and take advantage of the Adopt-A-Class program that makes the learning experience for his son and his classmates that much better!

 

 

 

 

Driver Trainer Class - Buffalo NY

On February 21, the team was out in Western NY conducting a Driver Trainer Class for Niagara Sheets, PrimeSource, and Jamestown Container.  The training consisted of a fully day of classroom material which laid the ground work and expectations for Driver Trainers at these three DCS Accounts.  In addition to the classroom training, there was also hands on portion around the equipment which included JSA Training and Pre Trip Inspections.  While it was a cold and breezy day, the group braved the extreme conditions to get the training completed!  Participating in the class were the following:

DCS Sales Meeting

 

This past week was the DCS Sales Meeting.  This was a three day event that was a review of the success in 2018 and a look ahead to goals for 2019.  The theme for the week was "Back to the Future" and included a visit from the one and only Marty McFly!

 

There were many great speakers in attendance, including Nick Hobbs, Brad Hicks, Brian Webb, and leadership from the recently acquired Cory Home Delivery.  DCS had a record sales year in 2018, selling 1700 trucks.  This includes not only Field Sales, Final Mile, and Client as well. 

 

The common theme throughout the week was the need to continue to push Marketplace 360 throughout our customer base.  There is tremendous growth opportunity through this platform and it is critical that as operators we become familiar with it so we can educate our customers on the best way to take advantage of it. 

 

On Thursday Evening there was an awards ceremony where they recognized all of the Top Performers in 2018.  Jim Krueger, Central Region BDE, took home the Top Gun Award, selling the most new business in DCS at north of $50MM. 

 

On Friday, we took part in breakout sessions where our Client Team gave some best practice examples of what they do with their clients.  Overall it was a fantastic week with some great takeaways!

Prior to coming to J.B. Hunt Margaret worked as the General Manager for Comfort Inn & Suites in Ferdinand, IN.  She also is a graduate of Vincennes University where she majored in Administrative Office Technologies.  Go Trailblazers!

Prior to coming to J.B. Hunt Chandler was a student at Indiana Wesleyan University where he graduated in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

In his spare time, Chandler does volunteer work and enjoys Purdue Football, Purdue Basketball, and loves coffee.

Prior to coming to J.B. Hunt Josh worked as a Production Supervisor for Farbest Foods and served in the Army for ten years as a Military Police Officer.

Josh is currently attending Purdue University Global pursuing a degree in Criminology.  In his spare time, he enjoys martial arts & watching sports and movies with his girlfriend & spending time with their three children Tyler, Cash & Killian.

Central Region Promotion Announcement - Chris Foster



We are very proud to announce the promotion of Chris Foster to an Operations Supervisor on the MasterBrand Cabinets team in Ferdinand, IN.  Chris started his J.B. Hunt career in September 2018 as a DMIT in the Tabor region.

 

During his time as a DMIT, Chris successfully helped many different central region accounts.  In January of 2019, he was tasked with aiding the MasterBrand account for several weeks during a transition period.  His performance and impact were so positive, Chris was promptly promoted to the OS level by February.

 

Chris originally grew up in Cincinnati, OH, later moving to Dayton, OH to attend the University of Dayton.  In May 2017 he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology.  Go Flyers!

 

In his spare time, Chris enjoys snow skiing, boating, and playing ultimate frisbee.
