Tarping Class - Indianapolis IN

 

This past week, our Safety Team led a group of drivers from our Firestone Account's in Indianapolis on a tarping training class!  A key component of CVD, is being able to provide cost savings to our customers in the form of backhaul.  By cross training our driving team on tarping, this will allow the accounts exposure to freight that they couldn't pull before while at the same time adding a significant savings to our customer.  Great job by everyone involved! 

Happy Anniversary Ben Miller!

Please help us congratulate Ben Miller on her 1 year work anniversary with JB Hunt!  Ben is currently an Operations Supervisor for us at the L Brands account in Columbus, OH.  Ben got his start with the company as a Cincinnati based DMIT and promoted to Operations Supervisor later in 2018.

Collegiately, Ben attended Cincinnati University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management.  In his spare time, Ben enjoys going to Cincinnati and spending time with family and friends.  He also enjoys playing sports and spending time outdoors.

Sherry Sapp 30 Year Anniversary!

Congratulations to Sherry Sapp! February 23^rd, Sherry Sapp celebrated 30 Years with J.B. Hunt. An extraordinary milestone for Sherry to accomplish. Sherry began her career in Louisville, KY with the Truck Division. In 2001, Sherry transitioned to the corporate office with the start-up of Central Dispatch. After 8 years in Lowell, an opportunity to return to Louisville was presented. Sherry accepted, returning to Louisville in 2009 joining DCS. Since returning home, Sherry has been an integral part of the Central Region’s successes over the years. Sherry is currently the Account Manager of the Toyota Owensboro Fleet, where she is responsible for 85 Drivers, 6 Managers, and a book of business of over $13 Million.

Sherry has always done an outstanding job. However, her years in DCS seem to shine the brightest. Her performance has been excellent, leaving lasting impressions on DCS managers through the training and mentoring that she’s done over the years. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication! We greatly appreciate all that you do and all that you’ve done for J.B. Hunt!

To show their appreciation, the DCS Toyota team surprised her with a lunch to celebrate. The team also surprised her with an engraved crystal truck to commemorate this great accomplishment.

The Importance of a Pre and Post Trip Inspection

 



This morning, our Account Manager Lena Howard observed Lee Pittman performing a pre-trip inspection at 6:30 am.  This is a great example of a quality driver that cares that his equipment is in good working order before he heads out on his trip to Florida.  Lee said "he doesn't want to be stranded on the roadway waiting on road service".  Thus every morning he does a thorough pre trip inspection before he leaves, as well as performs a solid post trip inspection at the end of his day.

Lee joined the Valdosta Cargill Account in June 2018 and is a part-time Fire Chief in his hometown of Willacoochee GA.  Being a Fire Chief, Lee has many stories he can tell you of accidents he works of which many are not so good.  He says that what he sees is a constant reminder of why he strives to drive safely in his semi so he can make it home safely to spend time with his loved ones.

Promotion Announcement - Mike Green

 

Congratulations to Mike Green on his promotion to Account Manager of Aurora Parts which will be based in Lebanon, IN.  In Mike’s new role he will oversee (9) Professional Drivers at 3 locations, and roughly $2.1 million book of business.  He will be starting up two regional fleets with one being in with this current customer.  Four drivers will be based at their Atlanta, GA DC.  Three will be based in Grand Prairie, TX.  He will also oversee the current two driver local fleet in Lebanon.   

 

Mike started his career with J.B. Hunt in July of 2015 as a DMIT for the Indianapolis, area.  He was then promoted to Operations Supervisor in January of 2016 on the old Aurora Regional fleet.  He then moved to the OS role at Armour-Eckrich Indianapolis where he has been since .   This promotion is a going home of sorts back to Aurora. 

 

In his free time, Mike enjoys spending time with his wife Sharon, their cats, cooking and is a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.  Mike congratulations on your promotion.  We look forward to much success from you and our new business opportunity with Aurora Parts.

Collegiately, Brittany attended West Virginia University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.  She stays busy during her free time with family and trying to keep up with her 8-year old son.  Brittany is also an expecting mother who is due in mid-2019!

Central Region Manager of the Quarter - Ethan Ray

Congratulations to Ethan Ray for being selected Manager of the Quarter for the Central Region for Q1 2019.  Ethan was hired back in August 2018 as a DMIT in Rochester NY.  Prior to coming to JB Hunt, Ethan spent 3 years serving our country in the US Army!  Currently, Ethan supports the PrimeSource Account in Rochester NY.  PrimeSource is one of the most challenging accounts in the region.  Here, our drivers brave the elements delivering building products throughout Western and Central NY.  In his short tenure, Ethan has shown an outstanding work ethic and commitment and has been a go to within Team Hoban.  Congratulations Ethan for this outstanding achievement!

Congratulations to Jonathan and Amy Brand on the birth of their son, Eli!  Eli was born on Friday February 1 at 1:49 am.  Eli weighed in at 6lbs, 13oz and 19"! Congrats to the Brand Family!

Happy Anniversary Ben Filbrun!

Please help us congratulate Ben Filbrun on his 9 year work anniversary with JB Hunt!  Ben is currently our Account Manager at Champion Windows in Cincinnati, OH.  Ben got his start with us in Final Mile Services (FMS) where he held multiple position such as FMS Area Risk Manager and Account Manager.

Collegiately, Ben attended Wright State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.  Ben is a big sports fan and follows the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds, and Ohio State Buckeyes.  He also stays busy with home improvement projects around the house.

Central Region Driver of the Month for January - Michael Ferguson

Congratulations to Mike Ferguson for being selected Driver of the Month for the Central Region for January 2019.  Mike is a Driver Trainer on our Cargill Account in Valdosta, GA.  Mike has been with JB Hunt for 7 years, starting his career at the Home Depot Account in Monroe OH.  Mike is our Driver Trainer in Valdosta, and does an outstanding job representing the company in his dealings with our customer, our employees, and the motoring public.  Congratulations to Mike for this outstanding honor!

 

 

 



Indianapolis Regional Office

 

Recently, the DCS Central Region opened an office in Indianapolis.  This office, located on the east side of Indianapolis, is now the home to several accounts including Armour Eckrich and Peco Pallets.  This office gets our management team in a more professional environment and allows collaboration and synergies within the Kimble Region.  In addition, this office gives us a training space to conduct meetings with our drivers. There is also warehouse space to store products for the region as well as tractor parking!

Early this morning, managers Mike Maier and Gisella Franco held a roundtable to discuss account news along with present 1st Quarter Training material. Gisella lead a great discussion among the group on various topics including Safety Direct videos and Compliance/CSA.  Great work by our team in Rochester!!
