Happy Anniversary Troy Smith!
Happy Anniversary Troy Smith! Troy is currently our
Logistics Coordinator for Home Depot Van Buren. He manages the daily outbound
and inbound volume for a multi-million dollar account. The success in 2015 and
2016 can be attributed to many things, but one crucial key is Troy. Troy
responsibility includes planning over 100 drivers daily, securing 3PL, managing
utilization and monitoring on-time service.
Troy is a graduate of The Ohio State University, a history
& sports enthusiast and will destroy anybody in a FPS (If you need to ask,
then he doesn’t have time for you).
Again, Thank You Troy. Home Depot Van Buren wouldn’t be
where it is today without you.

Driver Appreciation at Quaker!
The Quaker account spent the afternoon cooking out burgers
and hot dogs for drivers as they ended their shift or were just coming on
duty. Chef Leigha ran the grill, and had all the fixings. Frito
Lay’s chips, chili for chili dogs and sauté peppers for a little extra
kick. Even though her banner did not show up Leigha made her own signs to
show the drivers how much they mean to her and the company. Leigha is
also planning on cooking breakfast one-day next week, which all the drivers are
excited for.

Driver Appreciation at Home Depot Van Buren!
Home Depot – Van Buren did well in celebrating Driver
Appreciation Week with events everyday with cook outs all week. The weather
came through for the team and they were able to get out to enjoy some BBQ. Here
Sam Djung (TGM) and Casey Sullenberger (THD – Transportation Manager) are
keeping Joe Zieroff (ZIEJ7) and Josh Castle (CASJ34)at one of this week’s cook
outs. Seen in the background cooking up lunch is Jeremy Reinhart (THD – Trans.
Sup) and Troy Smith (Logistics Coordinator) coming up from Freight Manager –
Pick Up screen where he keeps the drivers happy to also enjoy some burgers.
Not only did they do a fantastic
job of getting out with their drivers on the yard with the cook outs they had
daily raffles. The account decided to go big on a few raffles and give three
drivers iPad Mini’s. Congrats to Rob Goulet (GOUR), Muhammad Ibrahim (IBRM0),
Jay Shope (SHOJ53) on being this year’s big winners of the iPads!!!
Driver Appreciation at Ellwood City Forge!

Driver Appreciation at MasterBrand!
Continued..
It is always exciting to see our drivers engaged when the team does something special for the group. It has also been a great joy seeing the families of the drivers and managers poor out and participate in this weeklong event. At the end of day two nothing stole the show more than Justin Baker, son of Scotty Baker (BAKS10), challenging his father and Garek to a round of “Pie Face!”. In this game players place whip cream on a mechanical lever. As the player twist the handle, they never know when it will release and throw the whipped cream in the player’s face. As with most games there can only be one winner……..needless to say Justin proudly came out on top.
Following
the kick-off to driver appreciation week, the drivers have been anxiously
awaiting to make it to the office. So much
anticipation that the management team received calls hours in advance
requesting their meals to be ready and prepared for them upon their arrival.

In
addition to the meals, drivers have enjoyed challenging their managers to a
game of bean bag toss and spending quality time in the office.

Driver Appreciation at Cenral Farm & Garden!
Central
Farm & Garden is known for being one of the most creative and driver
dedicated accounts in the Tabor Subregion. 2016 has been more of the
same! For Driver Appreciation week they handed out JB Hunt hats on
Tuesday. On Wednesday, they presented the drivers with gift bags which
was a small waste basket to fit in their trucks containing Lysol wipes, ink
pens, scientific calculator, driver clipboards, air fresheners, a Subway
giftcard, and our personal favorite....Big League Chew bubble gum. On
Thursday, drivers were given JB Hunt embroidered polo shirts. Finally on Friday
each driver will receive a personalized plaque with their name and years of
service along with a personalized Thank You card. The CFG team will also
break out the grill on Friday to cook lunch for the team.
Driver Appreciation Home Depot Monroe!
THD Monroe started off the week right as they hosted over
100 drivers and family members at ArmCo Park in Lebanon, OH. The events of the
day included corn hole, whiffle ball, a bounce house for the kids but also
Cincinnati’s famous BBQ – Jim Dandy’s.
To say that the day was a good one
for Ken Luther would be an understatement, he not only won in corn hole but was
also named as the Home Depot – Monroe Spring Surge Driver of the Year. Zach
Oakes and Ross Holden are still getting ribbed by Ken Luther (LUTK) by the
whipping he put on them at the much anticipated corn hole game.
Not only did the account do a great
job on starting the week out well with the cook out but they maintained the
momentum throughout the week. The account had numerous giveaways from account
specific polo shirts to soft sided coolers and duffle bags. You will see Jeremy
joking around with John Ellsworth (ELLJ5) during the account’s initiative to
help all drivers hook up and perform their pre-trips on Thursday.

The FD Ashley Team put together lunch for drivers as they
came in on Monday and Tuesday as they picked up their loads. Monday
featured Jimmy John’s sub’s while Tuesday’s lunch was BBQ pork and smoked
chicken wings. All the drivers that came through to eat also had a chance
to enter a contest to win some nice swag. They had to write down the 5
Smith System keys to be eligible for the drawing at the end of the week.
Prizes included a 19” TV, lawn chair, two thermal mugs, and new cooler
(with wheels) that will fit perfect in the truck. Great job team FD for
making this all happen.
Driver Appreciation at Southern States Louisville!
Monday and Tuesday were very good days to show our

mug, LED flashlight and J B Hunt hats.

good everything turned out.

in stride in her schedule and responsibilities as the account has also changed
from 40 trucks to nearly 90. Congrats Lisa on a great run in Monroe!

Driver Appreciation at Family Dollar Morehead!
Tuesday was a nice day at Family Dollar Morehead where we were able to work outside in beautiful weather and spend time with our drivers. Our theme for the account is that we care about our drivers and we do. We spent the afternoon talking and laughing and having a good time. We didn't talk business, we just talked about the weather, kids, grandkids, motorcycles, fishing, things they like to do to unwind or have a good time. We ordered Domino's Pizza along with pop, candy and cakes. We purchased some cooling towels for them previously and wrapped them up in a pretty bags and bows to give to the drivers. We have several items on order for our drivers for their Driver appreciation goody bags which should be here by the end of this week. We plan on having dinner with them again next week to enjoy more of their company. Pictures below include: Larry Hughes, Tim Higgenbotham, Wesley Pennington, Greg Davis, Johnny Graybeal, Keith Aldridge and Dean Pratt. Not captured in print (yet) were Jimmy Burns, Kevin Zhek, Tom Weaver and Jeff Mullins. Thank you to our team!

Congratulations Kerry Crockett on his Retirement!
(Dan Schoonover,
Kerry, Ed Butler)
Wednesday September 14, 2016 will be Kerry
Crockett’s last day at JB Hunt after 30 years, 1 month and six days. As a
Safety Coordinator, Kerry has seen and heard it all. Kerry reminisced on how he
has been working since he was 12 years old and not a day went by that he did
not work. Here at JB Hunt, he has been able to travel different places he has
met some very nice people and enjoyed his time here with the company. April
2017, Kerry and his wife will be celebrating 47 years of marriage. Someone
asked, “How have you managed to stay married so long?” Kerry replied, “I’m
always gone.” His plans after retirement include staying busy through the
winter by moving vehicles to dealerships. However, when the weather warms up he
plans to keep gardening and looks forward to traveling the country with his
wife. Everyone here at the Louisville terminal and everyone else who has met
you through JB Hunt, sure will miss you. Congratulations on your Retirement.

Who doesn’t love coming to work on Monday morning with eggs,
bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, muffins, roasted potatoes and hash brown
casserole? Team Toyota catered the “Zak I am Fried Eggs and...” meal from Wild

meal, breakfast at that, to kick start Team Toyotas celebration on driver
appreciation week. Day 1, Team Toyota’s drivers took off with full bellies, a
new hat and some goods to hit the road! Stay tuned to more food and gifts from
Team Toyota.
